Journey to Jazz 2024

Experience the magic of Journey to Jazz, 1 to 5 May 2024. This captivating and unique festival set in the heart of the town of Prince Albert, will immerse your in a week-long celebration of music, masterclasses, delectable cuisine, and the breathtaking beauty of nature.

The highly successful, inaugural Journey to Jazz Festival was held in Prince Albert in May 2023. . Conceptualised and managed by the Prince Albert Trust, a young team of enthusiastic local students, teachers and musicians bought a festival worthy of being held anywhere in the world to the Karoo. 

 

Excellent sound quality in all five venues, highly skilled South African and international jazz acts immediately established the Journey to Jazz on the South African music calendar.  From May 1st to 5th 2024, Jazz will again fill the streets and cafes of our Karoo town.  Kyle Shepherd, who was instrumental in making the first event happen is now Artistic Director along with Brenda Sisane as Creative Director.

Foodie Tour & Workshop

During Heritage month we had an opportunity to highlight the edible landscape of the Prince Albert area along with the produce of local food producers. Dr Hennie Fisher and his colleague Gerrie du Rand from the Pretoria University faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences were on an Indigenous Food Tour of the Western Cape and stopped in at African Relish.

SUMMER NEWS

The African Relish venue is thrilled that PACT (Prince Albert Community Trust) have moved into their new premises in the Langhuis, with access to the gardens ,and cooking school for their various events and workshops. The African Relish cooking school offers Karoo influenced cooking classes with chef Michelle Lottering. The summer gardens are full of flowers, herbs and vegetables.

For those who have not met Michelle, she has been hosting our cooking classes together with Madri and Orscilla over the last year. With guest favourite chef Shane, she will now head up the cooking school. The team look forward to receiving you at African Relish. Classes run over a half day unless otherwise requested.
