Culinary adventures in the Karoo

News

As summer beckons.

The weather is treating us well. We’re planting up our vegetable boxes with aubergine, basil, peppers, chilli, rocket, spinach and  radishes and we have finished our spring cleaning.

Thank you to the many loyal local travellers and new adventurers for visiting us as lockdown regulations ease. And here’s to those first international visitors who come to the Karoo.

The Chef’s Café is open for sit down dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Takeaways from Tuesday to Saturday.

As summertime beckons we are enjoying wonderful days on the veranda, the cooking school doors are wide open as the chefs ready the kitchen for classes. A restorative blessing we are thankful for during the continued challenges of Covid worldwide.

On that note we hope you are all well.

Our good news.

Our new class Herbs, Spices & Flavourings Karoo style was tastily received this month. The course breaks down tastes, and pairings plus techniques such as dry-roasting spices to infusing herbs, smoking and caramelisation that are prepared, and cooked using recipes such as garam masala, poached pears in coffee and spices, cardamom cream panna cotta.

Either a half or full day course, chefs Hendry, Rowena and Shane share their tips and flavourful dishes. A fun filled course for the family or friends that can be added to our Summer Sizzler accommodation package.

Balmy evenings call for wedding feasts and celebrations in our courtyard.

Holiday time

Soon we’ll be making up our festive Xmas cakes and begin our Christmas and Kids in the Kitchen classes.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in the kitchen or on the verandah.

Stay in our Karoo-style self-catering cottages with air-conditioning and private gardens. Our town offers many varied experiences.
