What’s in store for Winter.

News

Our winter gives us time to catch up on housework and develop new courses.
We have plenty to keep us busy including finishing touches for a newly decorated and renovated Akkedis cottage. After an untoward accident we had a perfect reason to spruce up our favourite accommodation.

New to the cooking school calendar during winter is the Food Hub; a meeting place created at African Relish for the Indie Karoo Film Festival 1st to 3rd July with delicious bites to snack on and warm the festivalgoers. Menu includes: Gourmet burgers, Homemade chicken pies and roasted veggies, Pasta, Hearty Soup, Seasonal Salads and some local sweet things.

We are also thrilled to announce that the Charcuterie King Neil Jewell is giving his first masterclass weekend at African Relish 5-7 August. The course is fully booked but we will be scheduling a repeat course for later in the year.

Nina Timm will also be visiting to give a Winter Comfort food weekend workshop 26-28 August. Nina has a vast knowledge of recipes and easy cooking methods that she shares with people on a daily basis whether it be in her cooking classes or shows and events doing demonstrations. She has become a popular household name in South Africa and apart from her passion for cooking. In 2012 she received the Blogger of the Year Award from Eat In Magazine and has not looked back since.

We are currently planning and designing a new restaurant space at the back of the Langhuis verandha, overlooking the lovely garden. The African Relish Larder and Wine shop is also currently being built and furnished with delicious goodies for take aways , picnics and gifts. Our chef Jaco is pickling and preserving and we hope to see the shelves groaning by the time we open our doors.

Check out our scheduled classes for the Gourmet Cycling tours and cooking courses planned for the months ahead or decide on your own with our Anytime classes.

We look forward to seeing you in the kitchen.
