Kids in the Kitchen
Andrew and Tessa Brandt and their active young boys Liam and James visited our kitchen this week.

Our winter days are lovely and sunny with chilly mornings and evenings. Our local gardens are filled with blooming aloes and the vegetable gardens are packed with winter greens.
The family stayed in our lovely Akkedis cottage and enjoyed all Prince Albert has to offer.

Mom Tessa and young James suffer from eating gluten and dairy. They signed up to do our NO GLUTEN NO DAIRY course with resident chef Jaco Fourie.

Liam and James cooked up a storm and enjoyed their food with great enthusiasm.

Gluten free pasta with tomato sauce

RECIPES
Flourless Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
280gr Dark chocolate
3 tbsp coconut oil
Vanilla
3 eggs
¼ cup cocoa powder
¼ cup honey
Method
Melt the chocolate with coconut oil and vanilla in a water bath over low heat. Allow chocolate to cool down. Mix 3 eggs with the cocoa powder and honey and temper into chocolate mix. Pour in a tray and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20 – 30 minutes.
Gluten and Dairy free bechamel sauce
Ingredients
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all purpose gluten free flour
2 cups soy milk/almond milk
Salt and pepper
Dijon mustard
Method
Melt the butter in a sauce pan over low heat. Add the flour and allow to simmer for 2 – 3 minutes. Take a whisk and add the milk slowly until well mixed. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes until smooth and thick. Season with salt, pepper and mustard.
